It started with one annoying question
Why do a handful of websites feel expensive, effortless and alive, while almost every small business site feels like a leaflet someone forgot about? Chasing that answer turned into years of teaching ourselves design, typography, motion and code, pulling apart the sites that felt special until we understood exactly what made them work.

Building the hard way, on purpose
No page builders and no shortcuts. Every early project was hand-coded so we would actually understand layout, performance and accessibility rather than dragging blocks around a template and hoping. That decision is still the reason our sites load fast and behave properly on every device.

PWS Web Design started in Surrey with one stubborn rule pinned above the desk: never ship anything ordinary. No account managers, no handovers, no recycled layouts. The person who designs your site is the person who builds it and the person who answers the phone.

We stopped pitching and started proving
Business owners are pitched at constantly and trust almost none of it, and honestly, neither would we. So we flipped it. We now build a real, working piece of your new website first, for free, and let the work do the talking. It changed everything about how we win clients.

We built our own software to learn faster
To push ourselves properly we designed and built a complete business platform of our own, covering clients, projects, finance and automation. It taught us how to design software people rely on every single day, and every lesson from it now lands in the websites we build for clients.

A national game-jam win
An experimental browser-built game of ours took first place in a national game jam. It was never the business plan, it was proof of range: if we can make a game run beautifully in a browser, a fast, cinematic website for your company is comfortable territory.

A small studio with a long client list
Word of mouth carried us from Surrey to trades, clinics, hospitality and professional firms across the UK. We deliberately stay small, take on a limited number of builds at a time and treat every one as a portfolio piece rather than a job number.
